Why Gear Doesn’t Matter

Are photos from a DSLR better than photos from an iPhone? Is 35mm better than large format? Does any of this matter?

Cameras don’t make pictures, people do.

Lets talk about why your gear does NOT matter.

The iPhone certainly changed the camera market. Often wondered what the market is for an iCamera. Take an a6000, add the hardware for a phone, make it a fixed lense and repackag it. The current iPhone LxW is bigger than a 6000. All the buttons and dials could be on the touchscreen.

Thanks for another thought provoking video. Sadly photographers in general are gadget buyers, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I spend far more time reading and lusting for and about cameras and equipment both new and old than I do actually using them.
I was reminded too about someones comments about computer operating systems. They are the picture frame surrounding the painting. Cameras of any kind are the photo frame and as such are of virtually no importance compared to the image.
    Thanks again for you videos.
