The Phase One IQ3 Trichromatic back is a digital, medium format back designed for the Phase One XF cameras. It houses a full frame, 100 megapixel CMOS sensor and features a unique bayer filter designed for deeper color rendition at the cost of about 2/3 stop of gain. The result is one of the highest performing cameras ever made, not only in terms of resolution, but also in color rendition.

I’ve had the opportunity to use this camera several times courtesy of Digital Transitions. Digital Transitions are the largest Phase One distributer of both sales and rentals based in New York and Los Angeles. These cameras are un-godly expensive, but the option to rent them makes them much more easily accessible when you need them for a specific shoot.
